Top 10 Strategies that will guarantee your ranking on Fiverr
When coming to fiverr, its a very common issue that everyone faces. Fiverr is one of the top freelancing site and if your gigs are not ranked, it is almost as not existing on fiverr. The gigs ranked on top pages of fiverr have better chances of getting orders and this is why you must try to get your gig into rank. But the questions is, how to do it?
After working extensively on fiverr and learning everything I could, I have come up with the following point that have helped me rank my gigs.
1: Copy top-ranked gigs
The simple rule is, if their gig is on top, there is something special about that gig. Now, what if you create the exact same gig? Will you get the same amount of orders? Absolutely not as there a lot of other factors involved like reviews, account level, experience, etc. Then why copy their gigs? It may not get you their level but it does increase your chances of ranking as these people have already put the effort into researching and finding keywords.
So before you start creating gigs on Fiverr, just take some days off and extensively research the top-ranked gigs. Create notes and list their keywords, their offers, their pricing, their category, and their subcategory. These will help you when you start creating your gig. Just so you know the importance of research, a proper well searched gig takes at least 1 week of research.
2: Proper Use of Keywords
Once you have done your competitor research, make sure you have collected a list of keywords used by top sellers. Now, it’s time to analyze these keywords using tools like keyword.io and other tools which show you keyword data. Now, filter your list and choose your primary and secondary keywords. Please use Fiverr’s own search box while selecting keywords as that gives you the most relevant and accurate data.
Once you have your primary/main keyword, make sure it appears in your title, description, tags, alt images, URL, video, thumbnail, etc.
3: Sell More – For less
Imagine you go online shopping and you have two sellers to choose from. One with 100+ positive reviews and the second who has no reviews. Even if the second one offers me a cheaper price, I would still choose the first one until and unless the second buyer offers that is almost impossible to miss.
Using the same strategy, you can attract buyers through offering which your competitors are not. I am not encouraging you to start working for a low price. If you want to charge higher than others, please do. But also provide them the value for that.
If you’re a graphic designer, you can offer more design concepts, or if you’re a digital marketer, you can offer a free consultation for 10 minutes. Make sure whatever price you set, you provide more value than what is expected of you.
4: Create multiple gigs in the same category
For example, if you’re in the website development niche, you can create separate gigs for the blogging site, eCommerce site, business site, portfolio site, etc. The hack behind this is that you can build a monopoly within a single keyword. I have personally used this technique and found that these profiles were easier to rank compared to others where I had different gigs from different niches.
5: Avoid unnecessary cancellations
Sometimes it becomes unbearable to meet the unreasonable requirements of clients but still, I would urge you that even if you have to put in 10x more work and time, believe me, that is worth it especially if your account is new. When you are getting multiple order a day, it may not affect then if your projects get canceled because your other orders will cover the consequences but when your account is new, it is no less than a blessing to have an organic real order and you avail this opportunity to your fullest.
6: Remain online on Fiverr
You may have heard this one a lot and probably every other person working on Fiverr will give you the same suggestion. And it is one of the most important points to consider. Think of it as a man who just started a physical shop and spent thousands of dollars decorating the shop, putting in inventory, and managing it. All the time and money will be a waste if a customers come to your shop and find that it shut down. As freelancing is a 24 hours business, you can’t risk a client coming to your profile while you are having dreams of achieving your next level on Fiverr. Even if you reply to him after 2,3 hours, that won’t be enough because you have to understand that you are in a market and the client coming to the Fiverr has thousands of opportunities and he can hire anyone who first replies and convinces him.
I have personally experienced that most of the clients message multiple freelancers at the same time and then after a little chat, choose the best from them. So remember, the client has many opportunities but you only have one.
What you can do here and what I do is download the Fiverr app on your profile and the first thing you need to do is change its ringtone to some alarming tone. The tone I set is such offensive and loud that I even wake from sleep whenever the bell rings and reply within 5 minutes. And just after an exchange of 6-7 messages, I send a custom offer and the client accepts. This technique helps you replying on time and hence maintaining your response rate.
The other hack you need to use is to keep your profile active all the time even when you are not active. There is a filter of Fiverr which when applied will only show those sellers who are active at the time. Doesn’t matter if your gig is on number one on the first page, if you are not active, you won’t show up in the results. Clients who are in hurry apply this filter so the seller replies instantly and they hire him on the spot. The thing you need to stay active 24/7 is to head over to the play store or apple store or whichever OS you’re using and search for the keyword “Refresh App”, a list of apps will come up and based on the reviews and download, pick anyone you feel comfortable with. Once downloaded, simply attach your Fiverr app to it and this will automatically refresh your Fiverr app at a set time. That way, even if your phone is locked or you’re using some other app, your Fiverr account will appear active.
7: Use videos as gig thumbnail
Another one you must have heard a lot is using your video on gig thumbnail. Although, I believe this one does not directly affect your ranking but helps differentiates your gig from a pile of other gigs. This hack works because only a few sellers do this and it helps your client build a rapport with you within seconds as you’ll be explaining about you and your services in half a minute. This builds trust in you and your profile.
And recently, this thing came to my knowledge that the keyword you chose for your gig should also be emphasized, clearly spoken, and repeated in your video as Fiverr also scans the audio of your video. Similarly, if you’re using an image as the main thumbnail, make sure to include your main keyword on the image and emphasize that keyword as Fiverr also scans images.
8: Make sure your clients give you positive feedback in private
Among the list, I believe that this is that one point that will directly affect your profile and plays a huge impact on your raking/drinking. This is the feature of Fiverr with which most of the freelancers are uninformed. When you complete an order on Fiverr and your client provides you a review, you review them, and then their review shows on your profile. But wait…. That is not the only review that takes place. Yes. After a day or two, Fiverr sends a notification to your buyer asking them to privately review your services. This review does not show up on your profile or anywhere.
Most of the clients ignore this notification but some take it seriously. You can get an idea of its importance that if a client gives you 5start on your profile and gives you a 3 start in private review, that 5 stars won’t do as good as much the damage this 3 start will cause to your gig.
I have personally experienced these things and after this incident, my gig dopped within a day to less than 50 impressions per day.
9: Get multiple fake reviews
Yes, you have to. When you have properly set up your account and gigs with proper keywords, check your analytics on daily basis and see where your profile is going. Even when everything is right, there is no guarantee that you will start getting orders. This is one of the main reasons that I hate Fiverr. Their algorithm sucks and you have not idea when you will come in rank. So what we do? We force Fiverr to rank our gigs by getting fake orders.
Now, first of all, I would suggest that you only make gigs around those skills which you have worked on or have expertise. If you have multiple gigs, you have no idea which gig will come in rank but do note here that even if you have all your 7 gigs published as a newbie, only one will be ranked and almost 80% or more of your orders will come from that gig alone. So, choose your gigs wisely.
Now, that you have your gigs, go to the analytics tabs and see which one of your gigs is performing the best. Then, get not one or two but like 4,5 reviews on the same gigs. The price per order can be as low as $5 but make sure that whoever is providing you this service is trusted and ask him to give you the private review with 5 stars and send you the screenshot so you can be confirmed that your private reviews are not causing the issue.
10: Promote your gigs outside of Fiverr
Note that Fiverr prohibits marketing your gig on google. As mentioned, Fiverr is on the largest freelancing platform with the biggest share on Fiverr. Now, on a company level, Fiverr is spending tons to promote its website and get as many buyers on the website as it can but remember here that Fiverr is promoting its website, not your gig. And when a buyer comes to the site, he has thousands of freelancers to choose from. So, it is your duty as well to promote your gig. The best you can do is promote it on Quora, Reddit, Linkedin, relevant Facebook posts, etc. And don’t just start spamming your link everywhere. Believe me, when I tell you this, these platforms do have the potential of getting you consistent orders. All you have to do is spare some time daily and be active at whichever platform you think is working for you. Read relevant posts and questions and instead of just pitching them your gig link, try to solve their problem right there in the comment, and at the end just leave the link to your profile and ask them to contact you there if they need your help.
Once you built a rapport and trust in your relevant groups and start solving queries on regular basis, you may get some regular clients from them.
